On the morning of October 27, LU Yang, Deputy Director-General of Qingdao Bureau of Industry and Information Technology and his company visited Tsinghua (Qingdao) Academy of Arts and Science Innovation Research (TASA) to investigate its construction and development status. LI Mingchao, Director, and ZHOU Xinzheng, Deputy Director of Science and Technology Division, Qingdao Bureau of Industry and Information Technology; XIE Longmu, Director-General, and JIANG Yong, Deputy Director-General of West Coast New Area Bureau of Industry and Information Technology; and other leaders joined the investigation and research. LIU Weidong, Director of Operation Management Office of TASA accompanied the leaders for investigation and research.
In the discussion panel, LIU Weidong introduced in details the development planning, organization structure, park construction, organizational cooperation, etc. of TASA to the leaders, and described the work plan for industrial design in the following stage. He stated that by leveraging the two advantages of the world-class academic strength of Tsinghua University and the industrial base of Qingdao with complete varieties, TASA shall build a world-class platform for cooperation and exchange in Qingdao targeting at integrated innovations in arts and sciences, and realize cross-disciplinary linkage based on industrial design, to cultivate new products, new brands and new industries. Currently, TASA has received the attention and support of leaders of all levels in its construction, and it looks forward to further in-depth cooperation with Qingdao and West Coast New Area Bureau of Industry and Information Technology in terms of collaborative innovations with leading companies, support for medium and small companies and more.

LU Yang said Qingdao Bureau of Industry and Information Technology shall support the cooperation between TASA and the industries, to further improve the industrial design capability of Qingdao. He also expected that TASA, the only off-site institute established by Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University (AADTHU), should assume the responsibility for talent training, to develop the mechanism for training local talents, and also have the innovative mindset, aim at the entire country and utilize international resources, for training design professionals with international vision.

LI Mingchao expressed that the industrial design of Qingdao is in an important period of prosperous development with varied schools and systems, the quick development of industrial design requires the comprehensive support of the environment and conditions, and the founding of TASA will bring new blood and dynamism to the development of industrial design in the city.

He also suggested that TASA leverage the development potentials and advantages of West Coast New Area as well as the advanced training mechanism for top-notch talents of Tsinghua University, combine with the industries and cooperate with the government, to cultivate local innovation and entrepreneurship leaders for Qingdao.
